E2A Climate Strategies
Data-Driven Communication Strategies for Clean Energy and Climate Campaigns.

Joshua Low, Principal and Chief Strategist

My work is propelled by a passion for climate action and a curiosity about how communicators and advocates can be more impactful. That curiosity grew out of my time as a frontline organizer for organizations like the Sierra Club and BlueGreen Alliance. I developed people-powered campaigns, community leaders, and winning coalitions. From there, I spent years at top organizations like the Environmental Defense Fund, managing campaigns and leading grassroots and grasstops organizing efforts that advanced bipartisan support for climate action, elected climate champions, and passed legislation that expanded access to clean energy in multiple states.

But I wanted more than conventional wisdom to be sure the work was making a difference for communities, workers, and the climate. That curiosity led me to experiment with innovative campaign strategies, social science research, experimentation, and the Yale Program on Climate Change Communication.

As Partnerships Director at YPCCC, I served as a senior leader managing a team focused on translating leading academic research into real-world impact. This included advising more than 200 organizations—including the City and County of Denver, Smithsonian, Wild Center, Seventh Generation, CET, and a range of grassroots advocacy organizations—on effective climate and clean energy messaging, directing the program’s expansion into India, and growing partners’ capacity to run strategic communications and advocacy campaigns.

At E2A Climate Strategies, I support leaders in the climate movement, government, and informal science education to translate social science research into impactful strategies to change the world. I leverage evidence-based insights and 20 years of experience leading social change campaigns to help organizations solve strategic challenges, clarify their goals, and develop capacity for strategic climate communications and grassroots organizing.
